White Trillium Ohio State Wildflower
MENTOR, OH –Celebrate the season on a Spring Discovery Hike at Mentor Marsh. Join us for a naturalist-led hike and program on Sunday, April 15 from 2-3:30 p.m. at Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve.
The Mentor Marsh Nature Center is located at 5185 Corduroy Road in Mentor and is open Saturday and Sundays from 12 to 5 p.m. Springtime is a great time to get out and explore the landscape and note seasonal changes as plants emerge from the winter season.
On our hike, we will search for early spring wildflowers, buds bursting and wildlife activity. We will also discuss phenology or the “science of appearance” and how you can track the timing of leafing, flowering, and fruiting of plants in your own backyard. Participants can take home materials on how to join Project BudBurst, a Citizen Science initiative tracking these phonological events.
Mentor Marsh Nature Center programs are family friendly and all are invited. Activities will be held rain or shine. Trails may be muddy this time of year, so please prepare and dress for the conditions. Reservations are requested. Meet for the hike at the Mentor Marsh Nature Center at 2 p.m. For questions or to make a reservation, please contact the Mentor Marsh Nature Center at 440-257-0777 or rdonalds@cmnh.org.
