I had the pleasure of dancing to the band for the first time a couple weeks ago at Waterloo. All of the bands appearing at the Slovenian Workmen’s Home are good, but I find Peter’s band especially appealing.
I’ve never heard quite the mix of instruments in a polka band as is in this band. It has a full-size bass which seemed to anchor the music.
The woodwind player handled the sax and clarinet expertly and then pulled a flute out of his bag of tricks. The harmonies created by the flute and accordion were delightful.
Together the mix of instruments and particularly fine musical arrangements created a richly textured sound.
