All programs are held in the Smead Discovery Center and are FREE with Museum admission.    No registration required. 

Saturday         Oct 22:          Archaeology and Earth Science Day          10 AM to 4 PM   Dig into a down-to-earth duo of natural history topics today:  archaeology and geology.

Who is an archaeologist?  A geologist?  How are they different?

Our family-friendly activities will help you understand the science (and fun) of archaeology and geology.

Nov 1 through Nov 30:    Sustainable Solutions for Misfit Toys—Plastic Toy Drive     Please limit toy size to 12” x 6” x 6”.      Bring us your small, broken, plastic toys, and we’ll send them to Toy Lab in Cincinnati where kids will make them into new toys.  Last November, we collected more than 200 pounds of plastic toys.  This year our goal is 250 pounds.

Friday     Nov 25:    Cap it!     10 AM to 4 PM    Cap off the end of our annual broken toy drive by making crafts from bottle caps, cardboard tubes and other re-usable items.

Saturday and Sunday       Nov 26 and 27:        Allosaurus Returns!     10 AM to 4 PM     Celebrate the return of Alice the Allosaurus to the Museum.  We’ll recognize this treasured dinosaur in our dinosaur hall with special crafts and activities!

Sunday     Dec 4:     Holiday Circlefest     12:30 to 5 PM     Join us for our yearly holiday festival.  Learn about rocks and minerals, and make and take home a polished stone necklace.  Come and enjoy all of the hands-on activities in the Discovery Center.  All visitors welcome!
